Does Wix Take a Percentage of Your Sales? (2026)

Start typing "wix transaction" into Google and it finishes the thought for you: fees, fees UK, fees Australia. Store owners everywhere want the same number. How much of each sale does Wix keep?
On a product sale, Wix keeps nothing. What comes off the top is payment processing, which every online store pays on every platform. We've set up Wix payments for years, including the e-commerce build for The Peptide Company, and once a store launches, most of the money questions we get are about processing, refunds, and when the payout lands.
There are two exceptions that most fee guides skip. Wix charges its own fee on event tickets and on memberships sold through its Pricing Plans app. Below is every fee a Wix seller can run into, using the US numbers from Wix's own fee schedule, plus what a $100 sale nets you once it's all taken out.
Does Wix take a cut of your sales?
Not on products. Wix doesn't charge a platform commission on store sales. Your plan subscription is how Wix gets paid. The sale goes to you, minus what the payment processor charges to move the money.
So where does the idea that Wix takes a cut come from? Usually from the processing line on a payout report. Wix Payments is built by Wix, so its fee looks like Wix taking a percentage. It's the same kind of charge you'd pay any processor, and Wix's fee page says as much: like other payment providers, Wix Payments charges for moving funds to and from your account.
To sell at all, your site needs the Core plan or higher. Wix says plainly that a site on the Light plan can't accept payments, and free sites can't either. Our guide to Wix's free and paid plans has the current plan prices.
What does Wix Payments charge per transaction?
In the US, most card payments cost 2.9% + $0.30 each, per Wix's official fee schedule. American Express costs more, in-person sales cost less, and buy-now-pay-later costs the most. Here is the full US list as of October 2026:
Payment type (US) | Fee per transaction |
Visa, Mastercard, and other cards (not Amex) | 2.9% + $0.30 |
Apple Pay and Google Pay (not Amex) | 2.9% + $0.30 |
American Express, including through Apple Pay or Google Pay | 3.7% + $0.30 |
PayPal or Venmo | 3.49% + $0.49 |
PayPal Pay Later | 4.99% + $0.49 |
Afterpay, Affirm, or Klarna | 6% + $0.30 |
In person (Wix POS) | 2.6% |
Tap to Pay | 2.6% + $0.20 |
Manually entered card | 3.5% + $0.30 (Amex 4.3% + $0.30) |

Two things stand out in that table. In-person sales are the cheapest way to get paid on Wix, so the table at your farmers market pays a lower rate than your website does. And buy-now-pay-later runs about twice the cost of a regular card. Afterpay, Affirm, and Klarna can help close bigger orders where splitting the payment makes the sale, but you're the one paying for that flexibility. Turn them on where they help, not everywhere by default.
Where does Wix charge its own fee?
In two apps. If you sell event tickets or memberships, this is the section to read, because these fees come from Wix on top of processing.
Event tickets. Wix charges a 2.5% ticket service fee on tickets sold through Wix Events. You choose who covers it when you create each ticket. Pass it to the buyer and a $100 ticket checks out at $102.50, with the full $100 coming to you. Absorb it and the buyer pays $100 while you receive $97.50. We'd usually pass it on. Ticket buyers are used to seeing a service fee at checkout, and it keeps your ticket price round.
Memberships sold through Pricing Plans. Wix's Pricing Plans app, the one used to sell memberships, subscriptions, and members-only access, carries a transaction fee that depends on your site's plan. It comes out of your earnings, and Wix says you can't pass it on to customers. As of October 2026 it's 4% on Core, 2% on Business, and 0% on Business Elite, per eSEOspace's breakdown of Wix's plan page. Free plans you offer through the app carry no fee.
On a $50 monthly membership, that's $2 a month to Wix on Core, $1 on Business, and nothing on Business Elite, before processing. If memberships make up most of your revenue, do the math on your plan. At $5,000 a month in membership sales, Core's 4% is $200 a month. Business, about $10 more a month, cuts that to $100.
What fees catch Wix sellers off guard?
Four of them. They're all on Wix's fee page, but most people don't notice them until a payout comes in short.
Refunds keep the processing fee. Refund a $100 card sale and the original $3.20 stays spent. Wix doesn't add a refund fee on top, but a store with a lot of returns feels this one.
Chargebacks can cost $15 each, or $20 on PayPal payments through Wix Payments. That's on top of the sale itself if the dispute goes the customer's way. Clear product descriptions and fast replies to customer emails are cheaper than fighting disputes.
International cards add 1.5% to the standard rate in the US.
Currency conversion adds 1% when a customer pays in a currency other than your site's main one. That stacks with processing and the cross-border fee, and Wix shows all three as one combined "Fees" amount in the payment details.
None of these are hidden, but they add up. A store selling internationally in several currencies can pay 5% or more on a card sale once everything stacks.
When does the money reach your bank?
On a daily payout schedule, plan on roughly 5 to 10 business days from sale to bank. A payment spends 2 to 5 business days processing in Wix Payments, then goes out with your next scheduled payout, and a sent payout takes 3 to 5 business days to reach your bank.
Your first payout takes longer. Wix says your account has to be verified first, and after your first payment it's available for payout within an average of 7 days. Finish verification before launch day.
You pick the schedule: daily, weekly (Mondays by default), or monthly (the 1st by default), changed from Accept Payments in your dashboard. For a new store watching cash flow, we'd set it to daily.

What does a $100 sale net you on Wix?
A US customer buys a $100 item with a Visa card. Processing is $3.20 ($2.90 plus $0.30), so you keep $96.80. Wix's cut is zero.
The same $100 looks different depending on how it's paid and what's being sold:
$100 sale | Wix's fee | Processing | You keep |
Card (not Amex) | $0 | $3.20 | $96.80 |
American Express | $0 | $4.00 | $96.00 |
PayPal | $0 | $3.98 | $96.02 |
Afterpay, Affirm, or Klarna | $0 | $6.30 | $93.70 |
In person (Wix POS) | $0 | $2.60 | $97.40 |
Event ticket, fee absorbed | $2.50 | $3.20 | $94.30 |
Membership on Core | $4.00 | $3.20 | $92.80 |
Membership on Business | $2.00 | $3.20 | $94.80 |
Now scale it up. Sell 100 of those card orders in a month on the Business plan and processing comes to $320. Add the $39 subscription and you've paid $359 on $10,000 in sales, about 3.6%. That percentage drops as you sell more, because the plan price stays flat while processing tracks revenue.
The two levers you control are payment mix and plan. Buy-now-pay-later is the expensive option, so save it for products where it lifts bigger orders. And if memberships or tickets are a real share of your sales, check whether a higher plan or passing the ticket fee to buyers pays for itself.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I pass Wix's fees on to my customers?
A: It depends on the fee. The 2.5% event ticket fee can be passed to buyers, ticket by ticket, in Wix Events. The Pricing Plans fee can't. Wix deducts it from your earnings and says it doesn't change what customers pay. Card processing comes out of your payout, so the usual move is to build it into your prices.
Q: Does Wix charge a fee when I refund a customer?
A: No new fee, but the original processing fee isn't returned, per Wix's fee schedule. Refund a $100 card sale and you're out the $3.20. Wix's own fees work the other way: the event ticket fee and the Pricing Plans fee come back to you on a refund, and shrink proportionally on a partial refund.
Q: Can I use PayPal or another provider instead of Wix Payments?
A: Yes. Wix lets you connect third-party payment providers and pay their rates, and Wix doesn't add a fee of its own for choosing one (Tooltester). PayPal also runs inside Wix Payments at 3.49% + $0.49. The Events and Pricing Plans fees still apply whichever provider you use.
Q: Are Wix Payments fees different outside the US?
A: Yes. Wix's fee page lists separate rates for the US, the EU, the UK, Canada, and Switzerland. A standard card runs 1.9% + €0.30 in the EU, 2.1% + £0.20 in the UK, and 2.9% + C$0.30 in Canada. Cross-border cards add 1% in those regions, versus 1.5% in the US. No platform commission applies anywhere.
Q: Where can I see the fees taken from each sale?
A: In your dashboard. The payment details for each order show the processing fee, and any Pricing Plans fee appears there as a "Service fee," per Wix's Pricing Plans guide. Wix Payments also emails a monthly summary of processing fees, and invoices sit on the Billing History page of your Wix account.
Before your store goes live
Wix's fee story is simpler than most: your plan, plus processing, plus Wix's own fee only if you sell tickets or memberships. Get four things set before launch and the first payout won't surprise you: verify your Wix Payments account, choose a payout schedule, decide which payment options to offer, and make the ticket fee call before you publish an event.
If you're still pricing out the whole project, our 2026 Wix website cost guide has every number we charge.
